We at Compton Jazz Club, Peace of Mind, and the Don Brown Collective stand in solidarity with our undocumented neighbors.
While it has been daunting to see the injustice taking place, it has been equally inspiring to see how our city has come together and stand up when it matters.
Now more than ever, community needs to be at the forefront. Safe, welcoming environments need to be at the forefront.
In full transparency, we debated whether to move forward with CJC this month.
It can feel unsettling experiencing joy while there is so much pain around.
But, we’re choosing joy as an act of resistance.
We believe in the healing power of music, of community.
We remain committed to being a safe, welcoming, joyous resting space.
